Genelia D'Souza was born on 5th August 1987 in England. But immediately after her birth, Genelia's family relocated to Mumbai. She did her schooling from Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra, Mumbai. Later, she joined St. Andrews College, Bandra to pursue her Bachelor's Degree.
Genelia made her appearance on the bollywood map with her debut film against Ritesh Deshmukh in Tujhe Meri Kasam. The movie bombed at the box-office. Getting such a dismal limelight in bollywood, Genelia chose a different route for recognition and entered Tamil film industry instead. Immediately Genelia created waves in Tollywood, starring in the Tamil big budget film Boys directed by Shankar. The movie went on to become a box-office hit. Following up her success, Genelia tried entering Bollywood with another Ritesh Deshmukh starrer movie Masti. Though the film did moderately well, but Genelia didn't get much-needed foothold in the Hindi film industry. But rather pushing herself away from acting in Bollywood, Genelia at a later stage attempted a third inning. She starred opposite Akshaye Khanna in Mere Baap Pehle Aap, a film that did moderate business. And finally broke into famedom with her youthful appearance in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na opposite Imran Khan, who is Aamir Khan's nephew. The youthful cult movie gave Genelia her much-awaited deserving success. |
